Spinal Cord Stimulation (or SCS therapy) is a safe and effective treatment that has been in use for over 55 years. 1 SCS therapy uses a small implantable device to deliver tiny electrical pulses to your spinal cord. These pulses interrupt your body’s pain signals to reduce the sensation of pain before they travel up your spinal cord and reach your brain.

Safe, Non-Drug Therapy

Minimally Invasive

Try Before You Decide

Simple Outpatient Procedure

  • Chronic pain following multiple back surgeries or Failed Back Surgery Syndrome (FBSS)

  • Radicular pain or radiculopathy due to herniated discs or post-surgical complications

  • Degenerative disc disease (DDD) or herniated disc pain unresponsive to surgery or conservative care

  • Post-laminectomy pain and persistent symptoms after spinal decompression

  • Peripheral neuropathic pain, including diabetic peripheral neuropathy in the lower limbs

  • Pain from epidural fibrosis or arachnoiditis (including lumbar adhesive arachnoiditis)

  • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), including Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) and causalgia

  • Peripheral causalgia (nerve pain following trauma or surgery)

Treatment Indications

Spinal Cord Stimulator Trial

Before receiving a permanent implant, patients first try spinal cord stimulation with a temporary system. This trial delivers real-time, closed-loop stimulation that adjusts automatically to the spinal cord’s response, providing personalized pain relief. The trial usually lasts 5–7 days, allowing you to see how well the therapy works before moving forward with the full implant.

One of the advantages of SCS therapy is that you can try it before deciding on a permanent implant.

The goal of the trial is to reduce your pain by at least 50% and improve your ability to do the things you find challenging due to your pain.
